Spark Notes: Celebrate the Stars in Your Life

Introducing Spark Notes, notes to spark conversation within ourselves and with others.  Join the purpose conversation.

We’ve been discussing the star formation this week and integrating the lessons of each phase of formation.  In a previous spark note, we also chatted about the value of letting things breathe.  It is in this spaciousness that the magic, the mysticism, the anointing appears and rests on whatever we are experiencing or creating.

I had a breathing moment this morning.  This morning marks the 21 year of my Grandmother’s transition. Her transition was as beautiful and remarkable as her life and legacy.

She was the star of our family.  She illuminated light. She radiated light and she held a mirror up so that people could witness their light.  She held space for people to grow into his or her purpose.

I did not always understand the role of my Grandmother in my life.  The change from her physical presence was really challenging because I relied on her light, a lot.  Many years later I met someone who reminded me so much of my Grandmother in a way I could not quite wrap my mind around.  One day a sense of knowing rushed through me and I shared with my Godmother, “I get it. I know why you remind me of my Grandmother, it’s because I see Christ in you.”  You can read about this experience and more in Divine Spark.

Celebrate the stars in your life who bring new awareness and spark your purpose.

I am a Christian and Jesus and I have been really close since I was a young child.  And yet I embrace all of my faith traditions.  I grew up traditional Baptist. My father was devout Muslim and I loved and respected his faith tradition.   I also had some experience as a  practicing Jehovah’s Witness and The Church of God and Christ, all before the age of 10!

I loved to go home and visit my kinfolk in the mountains of Virginia.  Some of my favorite experiences were witnessing natural practices that were probably born of Cherokee Indian tradition. I love the Buddhist traditions of some of my close friends and what they teach me about living peacefully and having true intimacy (in to me I see) in my life.  I also love people who are spiritual with no formal religion that radiate light.

Most of my life, I struggled with not really fitting in or people not really understanding what box to put me in.  My struggle was actually a pivotal point in  my path to purpose.  I never belonged in a box!  My unique design was meant to be inclusive. I am just beginning to understand and leverage the tools in my toolkit.

I am your sister in purpose because I love you and all the paths to that which is greater than you which is integral to your purpose path.  My Grandmother helped me to understand this important part of my purpose path because she was accepting of all and as a result everyone felt they were “the one.”  In my Grandmother’s legacy, everyone was a star in some form of star formation.  She had a knowing about this that she demonstrated throughout her life.

Celebrate the stars in your life.  Embrace their lessons and legacy.   It is more that will avail itself to you when you are ready.  The path to ready is to focus your attention on the people and events that really impact you or spark you.  Celebrate the transitions of life and the honor of the baton of  legacy and impact that are passed onto you.  Your sparks were passed onto YOU because the Ultimate Giver of Gifts knew you would take them, be with them and ultimately run with them!
